Denver Compost Collective is a company with a reverence for the wholeness of life addressing some of the big problems of our time such as climate change, inequality, poverty, and alienation from nature and each other, by engaging with neighbors in the practices of composting, community farming, and sharing collective resources.

When Shawn, the founder of Denver Compost Collective reached out to us, his organization was just getting off the ground and naturally, his focus was being pulled in multiple directions as he tried to build a solid foundation for his vision of the organization becoming a worker-owned cooperative, dedicated to engaging whole communities in the liberating practices of composting.

Shawn needed a brand strategy that would allow him to hit the ground running as soon as possible with the following criteria:

A solid brand strategy directed to his core audience
A scalable platform and easily accessible platform
A simple and intuitive sign-up process

During our initial meetings, Shawn provided valuable information on his vision and ideas, enabling our team to hit the ground running while he focused on other equally important aspects of his business.

Our initial task was to devise a clear branding strategy based on the client’s preferences around sustainability, a deep reverence for the wholeness of life and the company’s focus on building long-term relationships in their community. We then started the logo design process, came up with several concepts that were discussed and iterated with the client’s guidance. Through this process, we collectively set our sights on one particular logo that would symbolize his vision for the brand. With the client’s approval, a final logo design was selected and we moved to the development of the website.

We started with the site’s architecture, mapping out the content provided by the client into our user interface design platform and created design concepts to be approved by the client. After further iterations on the landing page and the sign-up process, we were ready to implement the user interface designs into the platform.

With all the components in place thanks to the client’s diligence and responsiveness, the platform would be ready for launch within a few weeks ensuring that Shawn was prepared to take in clients on the day of the launch. It has been a great success story since and it was one of our most favorite projects to date.
